This handsome blue merle Australian Shepherd is a very sweet, loyal boy looking for the right forever home. He was born in July 2022 (Maya & Koi pup) and has been a deeply loved family dog. Due to his family relocating to the mainland and being unable to take him along, he is now seeking a committed new home here on the Big Island.
He is incredibly intelligent and eager to learn, making him easy to train and highly responsive to guidance. Like many sensitive, smart herding breeds, he does have some fear around new people. To support his transition, he will be receiving professional board-and-train services with a local expert beginning in January. His training will focus on fear desensitization, confidence-building, and solid basic obedience, setting him up for success in his next home.
With patience, structure, and continued training, he has tremendous potential. He thrives with consistency and a calm, knowledgeable handler who understands dog body language and positive training methods.
Ideal Home Requirements:
Must be located on the Big Island of Hawaii (he cannot fly at this time due to fear-related challenges)
No other dogs or pet cats (cats possibly ok if cat is comfortable with dogs)
Fully fenced yard
Prior experience with high-energy, intelligent breeds
Knowledgeable about dog behavior, training, and body language
Plenty of time to dedicate to training, enrichment, and bonding
Willing to meet the dog before committing
Commitment to attend four free follow-up training sessions with the trainer after adoption
There is a small adoption/rehoming fee, and placement will be selective to ensure the best possible match for both the dog and his future family.
If you’re looking for a devoted, intelligent companion and are ready to invest time and care into helping a sensitive dog build confidence, this boy could be an incredibly rewarding addition to your life.
